• Back to being better

Teas & Stuff

    • Welcome to the shopping window for some of the items that I found hard to get, but a key part in the new back to being better change.

      Firstly the select loose leaf tea that blend the best of both worlds.  Green tea is know for its polyphenolic compounds that apply vascular protective effects.  The way this happens is because of the  antioxidative, anti-hypertensive, anti-inflammatory and anti-thrombogenic effects. Similarly Hibiscus has this amazing red colour which has compounds like polyphenols, carotenoids, ascorbic acid and tannins.  Blend the two of these teas to give the best of both worlds and the combination also tastes amazing. There are two green teas. One is standard and the second is Sencha Green tea.  Sencha tea has some incredible benefits including being extremely high in antioxidants, can reduce bad cholesterol, boosts the immune system, and can give you an energy boost because of the caffeine.

      The last tea is hibiscus and peppermint.  The peppermint tea is a great flavour and I like it as my evening cup of tea since it doesn’t have any caffeine and there are some reported studies on how peppermint can improve digestion.

      All of the teas are a 50/50 blend and loose leaf.

    • Now for the power house little seed. Flax seed is probably one of the most amazing food items you can add to your diet.

    • This little seed is a power house. From just three table spoons of ground flax seed you can get the following;

        • Dietary fiber 5.7g which is around 24% of your daily value
        • 1.5g of monounsaturated fats
        • 6g of polyunsaturated fats
        • 4.8g of omega 3 (as ALA, alpha-linolenic acid) which is around 300% adequate intake for males aged 14 to 51+ and 436% for females in the same age group.
        • 1.2g of omega 6

      The health benefits linked to taking flax seed are;

        • can help with lowering blood pressure,
        • can improve cholesterol levels,
        • an amazing source of dietary fibre which can help with lowering the risk of developing colorectal cancer, and
        • can help with lowering blood sugar.
      • Golden Flax Seed.

        Flax seed is not the magic cure, but in conjunction with a whole foods plant based diet they are an amazing complementary addition.

        Add 400g packet of golden flax seed for $7.95
